The Ramp ministry project is a community outreach of The First United Methodist Church of Oswego. What began as an idea from one of our members, the project has grown immensely. The idea is to build handicap accessible ramps for members of our community who would otherwise not be able to afford one. In cooperation with ARISE of Oswego County, volunteers from FUMC and other local churches gather at our church to design and build the ramps in modules which are then transported to the site and erected. Once an application has been approved by ARISE, the ramps are installed at no cost to the applicant. When a ramp is no longer needed, a group of volunteers return to the site and remove the ramp, the parts are then returned to our church and any usable pieces are recycled.
